To help you understand what’s involved with the DIY installation of Blindmotion Online’s various products, we’ve introduced a super simple rating system.
On the product page for a product, you’ll see a rating icon with the DIY level for that product, graded easy, medium or hard.
For an explanation for each level, please see the information below.
Blindmotion Online's DIY Installation rating scale
Easy
DIY skills needed: Accurate measuring & marking, use of stud finder, basic knowledge of fixings and their uses, use of basic power tools.
Tools needed: Measuring tape, pencil for marking, drill, impact driver, step ladder.
Example of product: Roller blinds.
Medium
DIY skills needed: As for 'Easy' plus use of aluminium drop saw, cutting aluminium to length.
Tools needed: As for 'Easy', plus an aluminium drop saw and drop sheets.
Example of product: Channel or zip guided outdoor blinds.
Hard
Skills needed: Builder, Carpenter or other trade.
Tools needed: Tools of the trade.
Notes: This installation level is for products that if installed incorrectly, can cause major damage to property and people.
Example of product: Folding arm awnings installed into tiled roofs, with rafter brackets and water proofing.
